There’s great news for those who wish to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life, wind  back the clock and relive the good times!

The team behind the Island’s popular Jack Up retro music events are preparing for the  launch of their exciting new venture, Retro Staycations – a unique glamping experience,  located in a peaceful spot on a small working farm on the outskirts of Ryde.

Opening to guests at the start of April 2022, their 4-acre site at Hazelgrove Farm, contains a  fleet of beautiful American Airstream trailers dating back to the 1940s-1960s, many with original fittings and fixtures. These classic caravans are currently in the process of being  carefully refurbished to ensure a vibrant retro style that’s subtly equipped for the 21st century camper.

Owners Sarah Moss and Alex Dyke said; “The global pandemic has given rise to a range of  behavioural changes - increasingly people are seeking a taste of nostalgia and to escape the  complications of modern-day life. Jack Up Events is centred around bringing back the music  of yesteryear, now we’re offering the chance to relive the glory days by giving people the  opportunity to stay in an authentic iconic American Airstream, the coolest caravans in the world!

These are no ordinary classic caravans. Our sleek, authentic American airstreams are the  embodiment of retro style and sophistication. You often see these beautiful Airstreams on  US film sets and backstage at Britain’s biggest music festivals. However in our pretty rural  meadow just outside of Ryde there’s a small collection of them, each has its own individual  personality and charm. Bring your family, your friends, or just yourself. It’s the ideal  retreat!”

The spacious site at Hazelgrove Farm in Ashey will also allow for a range of retro events and  themed breaks throughout the year, as well as being a superb location for weddings and  private parties. The family-run farm has a shop, containing local produce including eggs,  milk, beef, pork and a wide variety of freshly picked vegetables. Guests will be able to pre order delicious breakfast baskets with locally sourced ingredients grown and reared directly on the farm.

“The coronavirus crisis has brought everyone back to basics” continues Sarah. “This  opportunity presents a natural synergy with our existing business model. Not only via our  love of all things retro but it has always been Jack Up’s ethos to benefit other local  businesses. As well as supporting the farm we've been able to provide welcome  employment opportunities for several of the small businesses and freelancers who form a  key part of our events. It’s been a tough two years for the sector and in addition to the odd  weekend here and there, we’re now able to offer continuous employment for 7 months of  the year whilst furthering relationships with local contractors and suppliers.”

With UK staycations continuing to rise, the way we holiday has changed as many prefer to  stay close to home. Tucked away and surrounded by beautiful countryside, these incredible  time machines have an unrivalled ability to transport you back to the good old days. Quirky,  fun and supremely trendy, Airstreams were the original trailblazers for boutique, glamorous  camping. Their curvy retro shape and shimmering exteriors are unlike anything else you’ll  see on the Isle of Wight. This is the ideal way to live the American dream in a chilled-out,  relaxed environment, on your doorstep, without the airfare.

Retro Staycations is now taking for bookings for 2022. Visit for full  information. Special super saver deals are available for those who book early.
