Priory School enters a new era having reached its 25th Anniversary in 2018, having been founded in 1993. It also was ranked best school in the Island this year in the official Department of Education official League Tables for A Levels and also for English & Maths at GCSE. In the country as a whole it was ranked 21st for A Levels which proves without doubt Island education can rank with the best in the land.
In honour of this, and of occupying the historic site at Whippingham, in the school designed by Prince Albert and built by Queen Victoria in 1864, Priory School is offering special 25th Anniversary bursaries for entry into Year 3. Special consideration, in line with Prince Albert’s original vision for the school to serve its local community, will be given to families in the Whippingham and East Cowes area.
Since moving to the Whippingham site in 2012, Priory School has seen increasing numbers of its pupils come from the area it serves. Nothing could be more fitting in this Anniversary year than to confirm and consolidate this role as a “community” school.
Our academic track record, our maximum class size of 16 pupils, our pastoral care underpin all we do at Priory School. Add to that our success in events as diverse as Global Rock, Mock Legal Trial (twice winners), Sports and Performance – already winning cups in this year’s Isle of Wight Music Dance and Drama Festival – we look forward to our next quarter century of serving Island children and their families.
