Further to the unfortunate postponement of this year’s Jack Up The Summer festival on account of the Coronavirus, organisers say they have been completely overwhelmed by the incredible support shown by attendees, suppliers, contractors and traders alike.

Many former artists have also come forward to pledge their commitment to the rescheduled event, now due to take place a year later than was originally planned, on 6-8th August 2021.

Previously due to have been in Belgium this year, friends of the festival, 90s dance duo Phats & Small wasted no time making room in their diary to ensure a return visit to the Island in 2021.

Jason 'Phats' Hayward said; "Thank you for welcoming us back to Jack Up The Summer, we are both thrilled to be asked to return to support this brilliant festival. We always enjoy our time at Jack Up and the incredibly warm reception we receive on the beautiful Isle of Wight. We hope you’re all bearing up through these difficult times. Big love y’all!"

Attendees are promised the best reunion imaginable and a much-deserved Summer party with friends and family.

Crowd pleasers ABBA Chique will also be joining the original 2020 line-up, which has been rolled over to 2021 and includes Heather Small, Heaven 17, Strangler’s frontman Hugh Cornwell, From The Jam, Black Lace, Aswad, Dario G, Baby D and many more.

Ainsley Dowell from ABBA Chique said; “Since our first performance at Jack Up in 2015, we can definitely say it is one of the best events we have had the pleasure of being involved in. The atmosphere is warm and friendly, and the crowd are very much up for a good time, singing along and dancing to every song. This fun festival is well-coordinated, with acts and festival-goers alike being very well looked after by the organisers. You also see a lot of the same people returning year after year, which is lovely. ABBA Chique can't wait to be back on the Island, and once again be a part of this fabulous event.”

Like most musicians, after encountering a difficult time in 2020, 3-piece Island band The Resisters are over the moon to have been invited to appear at the homegrown retro festival in 2021. The group are gearing up to open the Saturday with some 90s Pop-punk, Britpop, Indie and Rock. Frontman Dan Chapman said; “We have missed being able to perform together to live audiences in the same way everyone will miss being able to attend festivals, Summer shows and events around the UK this year. It’s been the strangest of times but alongside the Jack Up organisers we are determined to make up for it next Summer!”

The Island’s very own Ska’d For Life will be opening the show on the Sunday.

Ska’d For Life

Event Manager Sarah Moss said; “There's a special kind of magic that lives in creating shared moments in time, and putting those moments together for people to enjoy is what our small team live for. Jack Up is a true labour of love, and after the many months of work which go into planning the event, being unable to share it with everyone this year is utterly heartbreaking. We’re delighted however to confirm that 98% of the artists who were previously booked for in 2020 will be returning in 2021, and now with some fantastic new bonus additions! We are absolutely committed to giving our loyal audience a truly memorable weekend, just a little later than originally planned.”

Tickets will go back on sale at their former 2020 prices in a few weeks from now. Kids aged 12 and under attend for free.

Jack Up will continue to support Beaulieu Respite and children’s home as it’s nominated charity of the year throughout 2021. Over £30,000 has been raised for local charities and good causes since the event began in 2013.
